Sara Noorani, AIA | LEED AP
Associate | Senior Designer
During her collegiate studies in her hometown of Tehran, Iran, Sara received her Bachelor of Architecture in 2010 and Master of Landscape in 2012, with honors from Tarbiat Modares University. During this time period, she also worked at Fluid Motion Architects, an international award-winning firm where she worked on several public award-winning projects such as Valiasr Mosque and Mellat Park Cineplex.
Upon moving to the States in 2014, Sara started her Master of Architecture at North Carolina State University (NCSU) College of Design. While studying at NCSU, Sara worked at Clark Nexsen in Raleigh, NC. Upon graduation from NCSU in 2017, Sara was honored to receive the Master of Architecture Design Excellence Award bestowed in honor of the emeritus faculty at the College of Design to the graduate student who displayed the greatest design talent throughout the duration of their studies. She was also one of the recipients of the Kamphoefner Honor Fellowship. In 2018, Sara’s student work was selected to be displayed and published at the 16th International Architecture Exhibition, the Venice Biennale.
Upon graduation from NCSU, Sara worked with Perkins+Will on cultural projects for four years. These projects include major cultural institutions such as Motown Museum in Detroit and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta. In 2021 Sara transited to In Situ Studio, a Raleigh-based firm where she worked on smaller scale single-family residential projects.
Away from the studio, Sara is passionate about ceramic art and sculpture, studying methods of translating mathematical forms to three-dimensional sculptures. Sara’s work has been featured by local galleries and recognized by the ceramic art community at NCSU. She also loves music festivals, other crafts, and traveling. Sara continues to have a sketchbook or watercolor block on hand whenever she travels, just as she once sketched and painted her birth city of Tehran as a young design student.
